Clients not suitable for Sugaring

Sugaring is exfoliating. It is therefore extremely important to read these contraindications before getting a service:

  • Clients who are on or have been on Accutane in the last six months cannot be sugared.

  • Sunburned, irritated, or areas with open skin cannot be sugared.

  • You must wait a minimum of seven (7) days after a light chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment before being sugared in that area.

  • Sugaring cannot be performed if you have been in a tanning booth on the same day

Pre - Appointment

  • Exfoliate the skin a minimum of 2 days before your appointment. Do not exfoliate the day before, the day of or the day after.

  • Do not apply deodorant if getting underarms sugared.

  • For best results, hair should be at least a 1/4 of an inch long.

  • Hair should not be excessively long (4-5 weeks without shaving is too long).  We ask you to please trim back SLIGHTLY for your comfort, prior to your appointments.  If we have to trim there will be an extra charge for that

  • Please come with clean dry skin. Avoid using any powders, cream or lotions to the area being sugared the day of your treatment.  We do have complimentary wipes for you to use at the time of your service.

  • Do not use razors or depilatory creams between treatments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth, and to have smooth, healthy skin.

  • Remember extraction of the hair at 1/8″ or less on a regular basis leads to permanency.

  • Avoid direct heat such as hot baths, or sun tanning the day of your treatment.

**If you currently:**

  • Razor/Shave – Allow at least 10-14 days of regrowth before getting sugared.

  • Wax – Allow 4 weeks of regrowth before getting sugared.

  • Sugar – 4-6 weeks of regrowth.

Things to avoid in the first 24 hours while healing:

  • Do not apply any scented lotions or creams - these may irritate the skin

  • Do not exfoliate the skin for 48 hours after treatment

  • Heat (including saunas, steam rooms and hot yoga studios)

  • Direct sunlight, tanning beds and infrared lamps

  • Working out (skip the gym for the day)

  • Touching, scratching or rubbing the treated area

Aftercare instructions:

Start exfoliating the skin 2 days after the sugaring treatment every 2-3 days. To exfoliate you can use a bristle body brush or nylon glove and move in a circular motion. For the more sensitive areas like the bikini or Brazilian use a coffee or sugar scrub. In order to keep skin hydrated, make sure to moisturize with a lotion or cream that is all natural.

  • After 48 hours you can begin to exfoliate 2-3 times a week in the shower or bath. Exfoliation promotes circulation and most importantly, frees the skin of excess build-up which often results in ingrown hair. Exfoliating allows the sugaring treatment to be less troublesome and results in a timely session as dead or dry skin can accumulate.

  • Regularly cleanse and moisturize your skin.

  • To get the best results from sugaring, its best to remove hair during the anagen stage(1st stage). This is typically 3-6 weeks after your last appointment, but can vary from person to person. Be consistent with your treatments for best results, regular maintenance lead to permanency and more consistent results

  • Enjoy your smooth silky skin.
